Rilemo developed a portable medical imaging device to help doctors get fast, accurate diagnosis of fluid related pathologies in and outside the radiology department, in ambulances, as well as directly on the field.
Rilemo streamlines the patient journey by enabling all Doctors to take 3D images to clearly identify the presence of water, blood, or other liquids in their patients. This is made possible thanks to Electromagnetic Imaging, a technique using safe non-ionising waves.
These waves, similar in frequency and power to WiFi, pose no danger to patients, and medical staff, making the usage of Rilemo possible in any environment without cumbersome procedures as needed with X-Rays.
Similar to a tablet, Rilemo’s device emits safe electromagnetic waves towards the patient. The waves are then reflected back to the device by fluids as water and blood. Once the reflection is received back, a colour image is formed, showing both anatomical, and functional data to doctors.

A safe technology for every clinician & patient
Rilemo’s Electromagnetic (EM) Imaging was developed with a safety first approach by employing intrinsically safe EM waves found in smartphones, and even in children’s monitor cameras or toys.
These waves, as for example in smartphones, are limited to reach a SAR level of 1600mW/kg, which is a measure of how much they can warm the body of a person while making a call. Rilemo’s devices instead reach a SAR no higher than 200mW/kg, 8x lower than a smartphone.
Ultimately, Rilemo’s devices are also designed to be used in conjunction with CT scans and X-Ray systems. In this way medical doctors are able to seamlessly continue with their visits, while enjoying a crucial additional layer of information, reducing inefficiencies, length of stays and mortality.
