Detecting intracranial hemorrhage via wearable microwave imaging: ex vivo human study
Rilemo's wearable headband tested on human heads, in a study presented at the European Microwave Conference 2026 in London.
The study tests whether Rilemo's headband can find a brain bleed through a real human skull. On donated human heads, the team simulated bleeds of the sizes that typically call for surgery, and the headband detected them and showed where they were. The authors present it as a first feasibility study. The work was carried out with neurosurgeons from IRCCS Ospedale San Raffaele and ASST Cremona, and with Politecnico di Milano.
